Tukdam (Tibetan: ཐུགས་དམ་, Wylie: thugs dam) is a term used in Tibetan Buddhism to describe a meditative state that some advanced practitioners are believed to enter at the time of death. In this state, the consciousness is said to remain in the body for a period of time, even after clinical signs of death have appeared.
