Tumescence, like in penile tumescence, refers to the normal engorgement with blood of the erectile tissues, marking sexual excitation, and readiness for sexual activity.

The tumescent sexual organ in men is the penis and in women is the clitoris and the vestibular bulbs.

Nocturnal penile tumescence testing

The nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) stamp test is a test that can be done at home that confirms the inability to achieve and maintain an erection by placing a stamp around the penis before sleep and if the stamp comes loose, it is likely that there is nocturnal tumescence.
