The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's NFC North division. The team was founded in Decatur, Illinois, in 1919 and moved to Chicago in 1921. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl.
History[edit]
The Chicago Bears were established in 1919 in Decatur, Illinois, by the A. E. Staley Company as the Decatur Staleys. The team moved to Chicago in 1921 and was renamed the Chicago Staleys. In 1922, the team changed its name to the Chicago Bears. The Bears have a rich history, with notable players such as Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, and Mike Ditka.

The Bears have won a total of nine league championships. They have won eight NFL Championships before the AFL–NFL merger and one Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl XX.

Stadium[edit]
The Bears currently play their home games at Soldier Field, located in Chicago. Soldier Field has been the home of the Bears since 1971, with a brief period in 2002 when the team played at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois during renovations.
Mascot[edit]
The team's mascot is Staley Da Bear, named after the team's original founder, A. E. Staley.
