Kishor Wasan is a Canadian pharmacist and academic, known for his significant contributions to the field of pharmacology. He is currently a professor at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Kishor Wasan was born and raised in Canada. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and later pursued his Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same institution.
Career[edit]
After completing his education, Wasan joined the faculty of the UBC as a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He served in various roles at UBC, including Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies and Distinguished University Scholar.
In 2014, Wasan moved to the University of Saskatchewan where he currently serves as a professor in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. He also held the position of Dean of the College from 2014 to 2019.
Research[edit]
Wasan's research primarily focuses on the design, formulation, and delivery of drugs, particularly those used to treat parasitic diseases. He is known for his work on the development of non-toxic oral formulations for drugs used to treat leishmaniasis and African sleeping sickness. His research has led to several patents and the formation of a spin-off company.
Awards and Recognition[edit]
Over the course of his career, Wasan has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the field of pharmacology. These include the Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences (CSPS) Award for Research Excellence and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Research Achievement Award in Lipid-Based Drug Delivery.
