Metsovo (Greek: Μέτσοβο; Aromanian: Aminciu) is a town in Epirus, in the mountains of Pindus in northern Greece, between Ioannina to the north and Metsovitikos to the south. It is the largest center of the Aromanian (Vlach) community in Greece.

History

Metsovo's history dates back to the Byzantine period when it was a small shepherd's settlement. During the Ottoman era, Metsovo enjoyed a special status and was allowed to retain its Christian religion and customs. In the 18th century, the town became a significant center for commerce and trade, especially in livestock and dairy products.
