Methyl-MMDA-2 is a psychedelic and entactogen drug of the phenethylamine class. It is a member of the Methylenedioxyamphetamine family and is closely related to MMDA.
Chemistry[edit]
Methyl-MMDA-2 is a substituted amphetamine, specifically a derivative of 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). It has a methyl group added to the amine, hence the 'methyl' in its name. The '2' in its name refers to the position of the methoxy groups on the phenyl ring, which are at the 2,5-positions.
Pharmacology[edit]
The pharmacology of Methyl-MMDA-2 is not well studied. However, it is known to act as a serotonin receptor agonist, and it is likely to have similar effects to other drugs in the MDA family, which are known to produce psychedelic effects and empathogenic effects. These effects are thought to be mediated by the drug's action on the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor.
Effects[edit]
The effects of Methyl-MMDA-2 are not well documented, but are likely to be similar to those of other drugs in the MDA family. These can include feelings of euphoria, visual hallucinations, and increased empathy and sociability. However, these effects can vary greatly between individuals, and can also be influenced by factors such as dose, set and setting.
Risks[edit]
As with all psychoactive drugs, Methyl-MMDA-2 carries risks. These can include psychological dependence, neurotoxicity, and serotonin syndrome if taken in combination with certain other drugs. It is also possible that it could have similar risks to other drugs in the MDA family, such as cardiovascular risks.
Legal Status[edit]
The legal status of Methyl-MMDA-2 varies by country. In some countries, it may be controlled under analogue laws, which cover substances that are similar in structure to controlled drugs.
