Pacific Life is a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest insurance companies in the United States. The company provides a wide range of insurance, annuities, and mutual funds to more than half of the 100 largest U.S. companies, as well as to individuals, families, and businesses.
History[edit]
Pacific Life was founded in 1868 by former California Governor Leland Stanford. Stanford also founded Stanford University and was one of the "Big Four" tycoons who built the Central Pacific Railroad. The company's first policy was issued to Stanford himself.
