Rimiterol is a bronchodilator used in the treatment of asthma. It is a beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist.
Pharmacology[edit]
Rimiterol works by stimulating the beta-2 adrenergic receptor, which leads to relaxation of the smooth muscle in the airways. This results in bronchodilation, or widening of the airways, which helps to alleviate the symptoms of asthma.
Uses[edit]
Rimiterol is primarily used in the treatment of asthma. It may also be used in the treatment of other conditions that involve constriction of the airways, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Side Effects[edit]
Like other beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, Rimiterol can cause a number of side effects. These may include tachycardia (rapid heart rate), palpitations, tremor, and anxiety. In rare cases, it may cause paradoxical bronchospasm, a condition in which the airways constrict instead of dilate.
Interactions[edit]
Rimiterol may interact with other medications, including other beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, beta blockers, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). It is important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking before starting treatment with Rimiterol.
