Southeastern United States is a region of the United States that is generally considered to include the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Some definitions may also include Delaware, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Texas. The region is known for its diverse culture, history, and natural beauty.

Geography[edit]

The Southeastern United States is primarily made up of the Atlantic Coastal Plain, extending from New Jersey to Florida, and the Gulf Coastal Plain, extending from the southern tip of Texas to the eastern part of Florida. The region also includes the Appalachian Mountains, which stretch from Alabama to New York.

The climate of the Southeastern United States varies from tropical in southern Florida to humid subtropical in the northern parts of the region. The region is prone to hurricanes and tornadoes.
