Nandrolone cypionate is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of testosterone. It is more commonly known in the bodybuilding world as "Nandrolone Cyp" or "NPP". This steroid is known for its ability to increase muscle mass and strength, while also improving recovery times and reducing fatigue.

Pharmacology[edit]

Nandrolone cypionate is a prodrug of nandrolone. Its esterified variant allows for a slower release of the nandrolone after it's injected into the body, which prolongs its effects. The drug has a very high anabolic to androgenic ratio, which means it has significant muscle building effects with fewer side effects compared to other steroids.

Medical uses[edit]

Nandrolone cypionate has been used in the treatment of certain forms of anemia, osteoporosis, and some forms of neoplasia including breast cancer, and also acts as a progestin-based contraceptive.

Side effects[edit]

Like all AAS, nandrolone cypionate also has potential side effects, most notably the risk of inducing gynecomastia and a decrease in sexual drive. Other side effects can include cardiovascular disease, alterations in the structure of the heart, and a condition known as steroid-induced hypogonadism.

Legal status[edit]

In the United States, nandrolone cypionate is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act. It is also banned by many sporting bodies, including the International Olympic Committee.
