SevenHills Hospital is a group of three private hospitals located in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. The Vishakapatnam branch was established in 1986, while the Mumbai branch opened in 2010. The Mumbai hospital was developed through a public-private partnership between SevenHills and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), with an investment of Rs 10 billion. It is spread across 17 acres of land and has a built-up area of 2,000,000 sqft, making it one of the largest hospitals in the country.
History and Facilities[edit]
In 2002, SevenHills entered into discussions with the BMC to establish a multi-specialty hospital in Mumbai. The resulting partnership agreement, signed in 2005, granted SevenHills a 60-year lease on a 17-acre plot near the Mumbai International Airport. As part of the agreement, SevenHills committed to allocating 20% of its 1,500 beds for low-income patients referred by the BMC, charging them the same rates as public hospitals.
The funding for the project came from private capital and bank loans, with Jitendra Das Maganti, the founder and managing director of the hospitals, being the majority stakeholder. The Mumbai hospital was inaugurated in July 2010 by the President of India, Pratibha Patil. However, there was controversy as the hospital space for low-income patients was not yet ready at the time of the inauguration.
The SevenHills Hospital in Mumbai offers a wide range of medical services and has an emergency department. It is also affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana, a healthcare scheme in Maharashtra. The hospital has played a significant role in providing healthcare services to the community since its establishment.
