Perugina

Perugina is an Italian confectionery company based in Perugia, Italy that was founded in 1907. It is known for producing a wide range of chocolates and other sweet products, and is particularly famous for its Baci chocolates.

History

Perugina was established in 1907 by Luisa Spagnoli and her husband Annibale in the city of Perugia. The company started as a small confectionery shop but quickly grew into a large-scale chocolate production factory. In 1922, Perugina introduced the Baci chocolate, which became an instant success and remains one of the company's most popular products to this day.

Products

Perugina produces a variety of chocolates and sweet products. The most famous of these is the Baci chocolate, which consists of a whole hazelnut, surrounded by a blend of milk and dark chocolate, and then covered in dark chocolate. Other popular products include the Nero Perugina dark chocolate and the Luisa chocolate, named after the company's founder.

Ownership

In 1988, Perugina was acquired by the Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate Nestlé. Under Nestlé's ownership, Perugina has continued to produce its traditional products while also introducing new ones.
