Sumatriptan/Naproxen is a combination drug used for the treatment of migraine headaches. It is a combination of Sumatriptan, a serotonin receptor agonist, and Naproxen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Mechanism of Action[edit]
The combination of Sumatriptan and Naproxen works in two ways. Sumatriptan works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain, stopping pain signals from being sent to the brain, and blocking the release of certain natural substances that cause pain, nausea, and other symptoms of migraine. Naproxen works by reducing substances in the body that cause inflammation, pain, and fever.
Uses[edit]
Sumatriptan/Naproxen is used to treat migraines. It helps to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms (including nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound). Prompt treatment allows you to get back to your normal routine and may decrease your need for other pain medications.
Side Effects[edit]
Common side effects of Sumatriptan/Naproxen include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, upset stomach, abdominal pain, heartburn, and nausea. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Precautions[edit]
Before taking Sumatriptan/Naproxen, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, celecoxib); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Overdose[edit]
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away.
