Photography is the art, application, and practice of creating durable images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication.
History[edit]
The concept of photography was first introduced by Ibn al-Haytham (Alhazen) in the 11th century. He discovered the camera obscura and pinhole camera, which were foundational to the development of photography. The first permanent photograph was created in 1826 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce using a sliding wooden box camera made by Charles and Vincent Chevalier in Paris.
Types of Photography[edit]
There are various types of photography, including portrait photography, landscape photography, wildlife photography, aerial photography, sports photography, and fashion photography. Each type requires a different set of skills and techniques.
Techniques[edit]
Photography techniques include long exposure, high dynamic range (HDR), infrared, seismology, macro photography, and panoramic photography. These techniques allow photographers to capture images in unique and creative ways.
Equipment[edit]
Photography equipment typically includes a camera, lens, tripod, flash, and photographic film or a memory card. Additional equipment can include lighting equipment, filters, and a camera bag.
Impact[edit]
Photography has had a significant impact on society. It has changed the way we see the world and has played a crucial role in how we communicate and share information.
