Universal Television is an American television production company that is a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, a division of NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast. The company was originally founded in 1950 as Revue Studios.

History[edit]

Universal Television was established in 1950 under the name Revue Studios. It was initially a subsidiary of MCA Inc., an American media company. Revue Studios produced many popular television series during the 1950s and 1960s, including Leave It to Beaver, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and The Munsters.

In 1962, MCA Inc. acquired Universal Pictures, and Revue Studios was renamed Universal Television. The company continued to produce successful television series, such as Columbo, The Rockford Files, and Magnum, P.I..

In 2004, Universal Television merged with NBC Studios to form NBC Universal Television Studio. In 2011, the company was rebranded as Universal Television.
