SafetyLit

SafetyLit (pronounced: /ˈseɪftiːlɪt/) is a free service providing a comprehensive source of information on injury prevention and safety promotion literature. The term "SafetyLit" is a portmanteau of "Safety Literature".

Etymology

The term "SafetyLit" is derived from the English words "Safety" and "Literature". "Safety" (from the Old French safety, from Latin salvus meaning "safe") refers to the condition of being protected from harm or other non-desirable outcomes. "Literature" (from Latin litterae meaning "letters") refers to written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit.

Overview

SafetyLit provides abstracts of reports from researchers who work in the broad field of injury prevention and safety promotion. SafetyLit summaries are drawn from hundreds of journals, reports, conference proceedings and dissertations. The database is updated weekly and provides a synopsis of the articles' findings along with bibliographic information.
