Rapid response system

The Rapid response system (RAP-id re-SPONSE SIS-tem) is a team of healthcare professionals who respond quickly to deteriorating patients in hospitals. The system is designed to identify and respond to patient deterioration early, in order to prevent cardiac arrest, intensive care unit admission, and death.

Etymology

The term "Rapid response system" is derived from the speed at which the team responds to a patient's changing condition, and the systematic approach they use to provide care.
