Outback Steakhouse

Outback Steakhouse (/ˈaʊtbæk ˈsteɪkhaʊs/) is an American casual dining restaurant chain, specializing in steak dishes, chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta. Its menu also features a variety of appetizers, soups, salads, and desserts. The restaurant is known for its Australian-themed decor, which is reflected in the names of some menu items.

Etymology

The name "Outback Steakhouse" is a reference to the Outback, a vast, sparsely populated region in Australia that is often associated with ruggedness and adventure. The "Steakhouse" part of the name indicates the restaurant's focus on steak dishes.

History

Outback Steakhouse was founded in February 1988 in Tampa, Florida, by Bob Basham, Chris T. Sullivan, Trudy Cooper, and Tim Gannon. The restaurant was initially successful, and the founders began to expand the chain across the United States. Today, there are over 1,000 Outback Steakhouse locations in 23 countries around the world.

Menu

The menu at Outback Steakhouse includes a variety of steak dishes, such as the Bloomin' Onion, a signature appetizer that consists of a large onion cut to resemble a flower, battered and deep-fried. Other popular items include the Alice Springs Chicken, a grilled chicken breast topped with bacon, honey mustard sauce, mushrooms, and Monterey Jack cheese, and the Victoria's Filet Mignon, a tender cut of beef served with a choice of sides.
