Open label study

An Open label study (pronunciation: /ˈoʊpən ˈleɪbəl ˈstʌdi/) is a type of clinical trial in which both the researchers and participants are aware of the drug or treatment being given. This is in contrast to a double-blind study, where neither the researchers nor the participants know what treatment is being administered.

Etymology

The term "open label" comes from the fact that all involved parties are "open" to the information about the treatment being used. The term "study" is derived from the Latin word "studium", meaning "zeal" or "devotion", and in this context refers to the systematic investigation into a particular subject.
