New South Wales Ambulance

New South Wales Ambulance (pronunciation: /njuː ˈsaʊθ ˈweɪlz ˈæmbjʊləns/), also known as NSW Ambulance, is the statutory authority that provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance services in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The etymology of the term is derived from the geographical location of the service, New South Wales, and the English word "ambulance", which originates from the Latin "ambulare", meaning "to walk or move about", which is a reference to early medical care where patients were moved by lifting or wheeling.

History

The New South Wales Ambulance service was established in 1895. It was initially a volunteer service, but has since grown to become a government-funded operation.

Services

The NSW Ambulance provides a range of services including emergency medical services, patient transport services, and aeromedical services. These services are provided to more than 7.5 million people in New South Wales.

Staffing and Equipment
