Monterrey

Monterrey (pronounced: mon-teh-rey) is a city in the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León. It is not a medical term, but it is home to several medical institutions and research centers.

Etymology

The name "Monterrey" is a combination of the words "monte" and "rey," which mean "king's mountain" in Spanish. The city was named by its founder, Diego de Montemayor, in honor of the Countess of Monterrei, a municipality in Galicia, Spain, who was the mother of the viceroy of New Spain.
