KRT14

KRT14 (pronounced as "kay-are-tee-fourteen"), also known as Keratin 14, is a type of Keratin protein that is encoded by the KRT14 gene in humans.

Etymology

Function

KRT14 is a type of Intermediate filament protein. Intermediate filaments, along with Microtubules and Microfilaments, make up the cytoskeleton of a cell. KRT14 is specifically found in the basal cells of the Epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin.
