India Cholagogue

India Cholagogue (pronunciation: In-dee-uh Koh-luh-gog) is a traditional herbal remedy used in Ayurvedic medicine, primarily in India, for the treatment of liver and gallbladder disorders.

Etymology

The term "India Cholagogue" is derived from two words. "India" refers to the country of origin, where the remedy is widely used in traditional medicine. "Cholagogue" is a term used in medicine to refer to substances that promote the discharge of bile from the system, either into the duodenum, or externally. It is derived from the Greek words "chole", meaning "bile", and "agogue", meaning "leader" or "bringer".

Usage

India Cholagogue is used to stimulate the production and flow of bile in the liver and gallbladder, which aids in the digestion of fats. It is often used in the treatment of gallstones, hepatitis, and other liver and gallbladder diseases. It is also believed to have purgative properties, and is sometimes used to treat constipation.
