ICES

ICES (pronounced /ˈaɪsiːz/), an acronym for International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, is an intergovernmental organization that develops and provides scientific advice on marine ecosystems and fisheries.

Etymology

The term "ICES" is derived from the organization's full name, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea. The organization was established in 1902, making it one of the oldest intergovernmental organizations in the world.
