Fisheries (pronunciation: /ˈfɪʃəriz/) is a term that refers to the industry or occupation concerned with the catching, processing, or selling of fish, shellfish, or other aquatic animals.

Etymology

The term "fisheries" is derived from the Middle English word "fissher", which means "fisherman". The suffix "-ies" is used to denote a place for, or a collective noun.
