Homer V. M. Miller (pronunciation: /ˈhoʊmər v. m. ˈmɪlər/) was a prominent American physician and politician in the 19th century.

Etymology

The name 'Homer' is of Greek origin, derived from the Greek word 'homeros', meaning 'hostage' or 'pledge'. The middle initial 'V' stands for 'Virgil', a Latin name meaning 'flourishing'. 'Miller' is a common English surname, originally denoting a person who worked in a grain mill.

Biography

Homer V. M. Miller was born in 1814 in Georgia, United States. He studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and later practiced in Georgia. He served as a surgeon during the Mexican–American War and the American Civil War.

In addition to his medical career, Miller was also involved in politics. He served as a United States Senator from Georgia from 1871 to 1877.
