Hasnat Khan (pronounced: hʌsˈnɑːt ˈkɑːn) is a British-Pakistani heart surgeon who gained international media attention due to his romantic relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales.

Etymology

The name Hasnat is of Arabic origin and means "grace" or "benevolence". Khan is a common surname in South Asia, particularly in Pakistan and India, and is of Mongolian origin meaning "leader" or "ruler".

Biography

Hasnat Khan was born in Jhelum, a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. He moved to London, United Kingdom to pursue his career in medicine. He is known for his work as a heart and lung surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London and later at the Harefield Hospital.

Khan's relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales, began in 1995 and ended shortly before her death in 1997. Their relationship was kept largely private and was revealed to the public after her death.
