HHV - A type of virus that causes herpes infections and contains DNA as genetic material. There are two types of HHVs. Type 1 virus infections cause cold sores on the lips or nostrils. Type 2 virus infections cause sores on the genitals (external and internal sex organs and glands). Also called herpes simplex virus, HSV and human herpesvirus
