gemcitabine hydrochloride - (pronounced) (jem-SY-tuh-gewesen HY-droh-KLOR-ide) A medicine used alone or with other medicines to treat certain types of breast, non-small cell lung , ovarian and pancreatic cancer that is advanced or has spread to other parts of the body. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Gemcitabine hydrochloride stops DNA production in cells and can kill cancer cells. It's a type of antimetabolite. Gemcitabine is the active ingredient in gemcitabine hydrochloride. Also called Gemzar and Infugem
