Fuad El-Hibri (pronunciation: foo-ad el-hee-bree) is a prominent figure in the field of biotechnology and vaccinology. He is best known as the founder and executive chairman of Emergent BioSolutions, a multinational biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development, manufacture, and commercialization of vaccines and therapeutics.

Etymology

The name Fuad is of Arabic origin and means "heart", while El-Hibri is derived from the Arabic word "hibr", meaning "ink" or "scholar".

Career

Fuad El-Hibri started his career in the banking sector, working for Citibank and later for Booz Allen Hamilton, a management consulting firm. In 1998, he founded Emergent BioSolutions, which has since become a global leader in the field of biodefense.
