Fezolinetant

Fezolinetant (pronounced feh-zoh-lih-net-ant) is a non-peptide, orally active, selective neurokinin 3 receptor (NK3R) antagonist. It is currently under development for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms (VMS) associated with menopause.

Etymology

The term "Fezolinetant" is a coined name for this specific drug, and does not have a known etymology.

Pharmacology

Fezolinetant works by blocking the neurokinin 3 receptor (NK3R), a receptor found in the brain that is involved in the regulation of body temperature. By blocking this receptor, Fezolinetant can help to reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes associated with menopause.

Clinical Trials

Fezolinetant is currently in Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause. Early results from these trials have shown that Fezolinetant is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of hot flashes in postmenopausal women.
