Doisynolic Acid

Doisynolic acid (pronunciation: doi-syn-oh-lic acid) is a synthetic, steroidal estrogen that was never marketed. It is a derivative of estradiol and is also known as 2,3-dihydrofollicular hormone or 2,3-dihydrofolliculin.

Etymology

The term "Doisynolic acid" is derived from the Greek words "doisyno" meaning "double" and "lic acid" referring to its chemical structure. The term was first used in the mid-20th century when the compound was synthesized.
