Auntie

Auntie (/ˈɑːnti/), also spelled aunty in some cultures, is a term commonly used to refer to a sister of one's parent, or the wife of one's uncle. The term can also be used as a title of respect for an older woman, even if not related by blood or marriage.

Etymology

The term "auntie" is derived from the Middle English term "aunte", which itself is derived from the Old French "ante". The term has been in use since the 13th century.
