anal pap test - (pronounced) (AY-zero. . . ) A procedure in which cells are scraped from the lining of the anus (the opening of the rectum to the outside of the body) and viewed under a microscope. It is used to find cancer and changes in cells that can lead to cancer. An anal Pap test can also show conditions that aren't cancer, such as: B. infection or inflammation. Also called an anal pap smear
