Ambassador (/æmˈbæsədər/) is a high-ranking official who represents their country in a foreign land. The term originates from the Middle French word ambassadeur, which is derived from the Old Italian ambasciatore, meaning "messenger" or "servant".

Role and Duties

An Ambassador is responsible for maintaining diplomatic relations and acting as a liaison between their home country and the host country. They are tasked with negotiating treaties, resolving disputes, and promoting their country's interests abroad.
