Air Conditioning (pronunciation: /ˈeər kənˈdɪʃ(ə)nɪŋ/) is a process that involves the removal of heat and moisture from the interior of an occupied space, to improve the comfort of occupants. This process is typically used in both domestic and commercial environments.

Etymology

The term "Air Conditioning" comes from the English words "air" and "conditioning". The word "air" comes from the Old English ǣr, which means atmosphere, breeze, weather, or sky. The word "conditioning" comes from the Latin condicionem, which means agreement or contract. In this context, it refers to the process of changing the properties of air to create a more comfortable environment.
