AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges)

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is a not-for-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. that serves as an advocate for all accredited U.S. and Canadian medical schools, teaching hospitals, and academic societies. The AAMC represents the interests of the academic medicine community through a broad range of services, including data collection and analysis, medical education and clinical care, research, and community collaborations.

History

The AAMC was founded in 1876 to improve medical education standards. It has since grown to represent 155 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools, nearly 400 major teaching hospitals, and more than 80 academic societies.
