5-Ethoxy-DMT

5-Ethoxy-DMT (pronunciation: 5-eth-ox-ee-DMT), also known as 5-ethoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, is a lesser-known psychedelic compound of the tryptamine class. It is structurally related to the more well-known compounds DMT and 5-MeO-DMT.

Etymology

The name "5-Ethoxy-DMT" is derived from its chemical structure. The "5-Ethoxy" part refers to the ethoxy group (an ethoxy group is an ether functional group consisting of an oxygen atom connected to two carbon atoms) attached to the 5th position of the tryptamine molecule. "DMT" stands for "N,N-dimethyltryptamine", indicating that the tryptamine molecule is also modified by two methyl groups attached to the nitrogen atom.
