Sustainable technology (pronunciation: /səˈsteɪnəbəl tɛkˈnɒlədʒi/) is a term used to describe a category of technology that is designed to be environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and sustainable over the long term.

Etymology

The term "sustainable technology" is derived from the words "sustainable", which means capable of being maintained at a steady level without exhausting natural resources or causing severe ecological damage, and "technology", which refers to the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.
