The foreskin (also known as the prepuce) is a double-layered fold of skin and mucous membrane that covers and protects the glans penis in males and the clitoris in females. In males, the foreskin is a continuation of the skin of the penis and can be retracted to expose the glans. • Paraphimosis: A condition where the retracted foreskin cannot be returned to its normal position, leading to swelling and restricted blood flow.
• Circumcision: The surgical removal of the foreskin, often performed for religious, cultural, or medical reasons.
