Pharma Fraud (pronunciation: /ˈfɑːrmə frɔːd/) is a term used to describe fraudulent activities committed within the pharmaceutical industry. These activities can range from misrepresentation of drug efficacy and safety, price gouging, to bribery and corruption in the drug approval process.
Etymology
The term "Pharma Fraud" is a combination of the words "Pharmaceutical" and "Fraud". "Pharmaceutical" is derived from the Greek word "Pharmakeia" which means "drug", while "Fraud" comes from the Latin word "fraus" meaning "deceit".
