MR - A measure of how fast cancer cells divide and grow. To find the MR, the number of cells dividing in a given amount of cancerous tissue is counted. MRI is used to determine the stage of melanoma (a type of skin cancer) and other types of cancer. Higher MRs are associated with lower survival rates. Also called the mitotic rate
