Short definitionhumanized monoclonal antibody (HYOO-muh-nized MAH-noh-KLOH-nul AN-tee-BAH-dee) A type of antibody made in the laboratory by combining a human antibody with a small portion of a mouse or rat monoclonal antibody. The mouse or rat portion of the antibody binds to the target antigen, and the human portion reduces the chance of it being destroyed by the body's immune system
