Freak is a term that is often used in a derogatory manner to refer to a person who is physically or mentally different from the norm. The term has been used historically to describe individuals with physical abnormalities, or those who exhibit unusual behaviors or preferences.

History

The term "freak" has been used in English since the 16th century, originally meaning a sudden and capricious turn of mind, an odd fancy, or a whimsical or unusual idea. It was not until the 19th century that the term began to be used to refer to a person with an unusual physical abnormality.

Usage
