English: Potomac Park looking West prior to beginning construcion of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C. c1912
The Lincoln Memorial was built at the West (far) end of the Park by the Potomac River and the Reflecting Pool built in front of it. Ground was broken for the Memorial on February 12, 1914 and it was formally dedicated twelve years later on Memorial Day, May 30, 1922.
