| Description |
English: Erythrocytes free-floating in air spaces with hemosiderin formation in macrophages. The elastic tissue of a small blood vessel in the center is coated with iron and calcium and is fragmented. This is called mineralization; erroneously called endogenous pneumoconiosis in the past. The mineralized vascular elastic tissue acts as a foreign body provoking a giant cell reaction. |
