Summary
DescriptionOld Boston Globe Building.png
English: The second Boston Globe Building opened in the spring of 1887 next to the original, smaller Boston Globe Building, which had housed the newspaper since its founding in 1872. This drawing, first published in the Boston Globe of October 30, 1887, depicts the new building as it would appear the following year, after being widened to cover the site of the old Globe Building, then in the process of demolition. The addition forms the left side of the building in the drawing, marked by the group of three windows near the top and the two leftmost columns of windows below. A drawing of the new building before the addition replaced the adjoining old building appears in the Boston Globe of May 2, 1887.
