DescriptionMicroangiopathic haemolytic anaemia (Schistocytes and spherocytes).jpg
English: Microangiopathic Haemolytic Anemia (MAHA) is a subgroup of haemolytic anaemia resulting from the damage of the endothelial layer of small vessels (disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura) resulting in fibrin deposition and platelet aggregation. As red blood cells travel through these damaged vessels, they are fragmented resulting in intravascular haemolysis and presence of schistocytes.
