A continental shelf extension is not an EEZ extension. An EEZ cannot extend more than 200 nmi from coastal baselines (UNCLOS Article 56). "The rights of the coastal State over the continental shelf do not affect the legal status of the superjacent waters" (UNCLOS Article 78).
