Summary
DescriptionDimetrodon grandis in "high walk" pose.png
English: Reconstruction of the iconic Permian carnivore, Dimetrodon. It was known from a floodplain/wetland environment with periodic wet and dry seasons. As such, this coloration is ideal for a large-bodied, possibly scaly predator that may have needed to camouflage in varying conditions. The sail shows characteristic exposed spines based on fossil evidence, and the yellow spots signify its purpose as a possible display structure. This reconstruction also features Dimetrodon in the most up-to-date posture, that of a more upright animal based on Scott Hartman's "21st Century Look at Dimetrodon".
